ADO and Staaken Cultural Centre Support Green Space Project for the Integration of Permanently Jobless Residents in Spandau
- Garden area at the Staaken Cultural Centre to be re-landscaped and beautified
- ADO making its own gardeners and the entire work material available
- First project results to be presented at Staaken Cultural Centre on 19 July 2017 at 13:00 CET
Berlin, 11 July 2017 – ADO Immobilien Management and die CFM Central Facility Management, both subsidiaries of the Berlin-based housing company ADO Properties, jointly support a job pilot and operational maintenance project in the borough of Spandau (“Berufspilot und Betriebsunterhalt – Spandau 2020”) that was initiated by the BIWAQ workshop for education business and jobs on the neighbourhood level. The program uses funds provided by the European Social Fund (ESF) and by the Federal Ministry of Building and Urban Development to improve the opportunities available to residents in disadvantaged urban districts.
The objective of the project in Berlin-Spandau is to restore the neglected grounds of the Staaken Cultural Centre and simultaneously to prepare ten permanently jobless residents for a future activity as gardeners. The works started earlier this week. The first results will be presented to the public at the Staaken Cultural Centre on 19 July 2017. In the long run, the garden areas are to be managed by the people using the cultural centre.
Manuela Modenberg, Head of the Reinickendorf und Spandau Branches of ADO Immobilien Management, elaborated: “On the grounds of roughly 150 square metres, two large black pines need to be trimmed, various shrubs need to be replanted, and about six cubic metres of topsoil need to be spread before reseeding the lawn. We welcome the project because restoring green areas will help to improve the residential quality and liveability in Staaken. At the same time, it promotes the professional and social integration of permanently jobless residents of Spandau. We therefore support the project by making one or two of our own gardeners available along with the entire work material, including topsoil and grass seed.” ADO cares a lot about its corporate citizenship and has previously committed itself as co-sponsor of the Heerstrasse Nord street party and participated in clean-up drives on the district level.Anyone interested is invited to attend the presentation of the project results at the Staaken Cultural Centre at Sandstrasse 41 in D-13593 Berlin on 19 July 2017 between 13:00 and 15:00 CET.
